Inspiral Raw Hazelnut Torte

This tart is so insanely good, it’s NUTS! A Raw Hazelnut Creme Torte is a 3-layer silky smooth dessert with a delicious nutty flavour, comprised of a chocolate & hazelnut crust, a rich hazelnut filling and chocolate ganache topping.

Juicing in South Kensington

Following on a recent post about my favourite juice combination, here’s a tip on where to get some great fresh juices in South Kensington. D McKay sells extremely large bottle of freshly made juice for £5.50 a pop. Punters can select from an amazing mix of fruit and vegetables available in this quaint little store. Only downer is they don’t accept cards, so bring cashish!

They use the Rotor Vitamat (juicer, rather than blender) which retails in region of £2,000.

Best Juice Mix!

I love my Vitamix and all things raw vegan and health. Here is the best juice mix I’ve had in a while:

1. Kale

2. Celery

3. Carrot

4. Spinach

5. Best bit of all – CHILLI! to give it a real kick, or Cayenne will also do

Note that you can also put a bit of apple in there for sweetness.

Chocolate Brownies

We’ve amended this receipe found originally in the Londoner, to be slightly more healthy. There are lots of raw brownie recipes out there, but we loved this low fat baked option (claims to be 100 cals per brownie):

180g (3/4 cup) Low fat goats yogurt
60ml (1/4 cup) Skimmed milk (almond/coconut)
64g (1/2 cup) Raw cocoa powder
43g (1/2 cup) Quinoa Flour
64g (1/2 cup) Any raw sweetner
1 free range egg
1 tsp Baking powder
Pinch of salt
150g Roughly chopped pecans (or nuts of your choice)

And here and here are some other great raw dessert options!

Food

I N S P I R A L

Has a cafe up in Camden, London, but also sells their raw cakes, crackers and breads in health food shops around London, in particular Whole Foods on High Street Kensington.

Inspiral Cafe & Food:Raw Vegan

S A F

Similar to Inspiral, sells their raw cakes, crackers and breads in health food shops around London. Sells their goods and have a restaurant in Whole Foods on High Street Kensington.

This 85% cocoa chocolate isn’t sin free as it contains sugar etc, but it’s certainly one of the best of a bad bunch. And satisfies a sugar craving in one square or two.

J O E   &   T H E   J U I C E

Yummy juice bar with a whole host of (natural) glutan and dairy free snacks. Expect to be served by an extremely attractive Swedish man.

We love this seed mix! It’s full of Omega 3, 6 & 9 and also Vitamin D and probiotics. Bring. It. On.

Similar to Quinoa Bread, this is packed full of protein, glutan and dairy free and feckin’ delicious (all without that heavy feeling post oats!).

Yes! Goodbye Glutan. Hello Coconut!

We paid a visit to Whole Foods in Kensington over the weekend and picked up these delicious natural treats

Love these RAW chocolate Om Bars.

Kara Coconut Milk – recently started selling in Tescos.

Coconut Oil – which you can get from Holland & Barratt. It won’t burn at high temperatures (unlike other oils such as Olive).

Cashew Cookie Bars – NAKD. Just 50% dates and 50% cashews. And that’s it!

Ground Himalayan Salt, with it’s gorgeous pinky hue.

Carob powder

Pukka Detox Tea

Quionoa Porridge Flakes

Dates (so much better than cakes or biscuits and also a great ingredient for raw desserts)

100% Raw Cacao (Chocolate)

Similar to dates, raw almonds are great for snacking on and also for raw puddings.

Linwoods Ground Flaxseed is great for sprinkling over both savory and sweet.

Good Oil is amazing! Tip: always serve cold, drizzled over food, never heat!
