Diana Vreeland

Diana Vreeland (July 29, 1903, Paris – August 22, 1989, New York City) was a noted columnist and editor in the field of fashion. She worked for both Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue US. A true visionary, here are some great words of her’s:

“The body must stay fit. Fit people like themselves much better.”

“The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.”

Alice Ormsby Gore

Having recently read Pete Townsend’s autobiography, I became interested in Alice Ormsby Gore who was the ex-fiancée of Eric Clapton. She could never overcome his Pattie Boyd obsession and became a sad casualty of 1960s excess, love and drugs.

Keith Richards & Pete Townshend

Both autobiographies make fantastic, juicy reading and, interestingly, overlap here and there (although Pete Townsend was more friendly with Mick Jagger than Keef: ‘Mick is the only man I’ve ever seriously wanted to fuck’). Both rockers not only created seminal, knee knocking music, but were also at the centre of an amazing cultural tornado which whizzed and whirled throughout the 1960s and 70s. Love, loss, drugs, sex, survival drip from every page; heavenly reading, both come highly recommended.
